More Hurricane Ike Pictures

Hurricane Ike

Well we survived Hurricane Ike. Before the storm hit Shane said that we were just going to stay here and ride out the storm, it wasn't going to be a big deal anyway. After the storm hit he said the next time they say something is coming we are going to evacuate before it hits.

Before it hit I was doing fine. I wasn't too worried about what was going to happen. But aroung 4:30 am it was a totally different story! THe winds were gusting so hard that I literally felt our house move. We stayed upstairs in the game room. I know that you are supposed to be on the first floor in an inside room but my house doesn't have such a place. We put a board in front of the only window in the game room and hunkered down. There were time when I thought that the window was going to explode. But thankfully the Lord watched over us the whole time and we got through it with only minor damage. We do have some roof damage from missing shingles, part of our fence blew down, and water came in through our back door and front window. Here are some pictures from the aftermath. The house that you see is not mine, but a house that is just down the street.

I am finally back!!!

I am finally back to blogging again. We finally got power back today from being without it for 11 1/2 days. Now before you start feeling really bad for me I have to let you in on a little secret... we did not spend all 11 1/2 days in this house with no electricity. Thankfully my inlaws got their power back after only 1 1/2 days without it. So on Sunday (the day after the storm hit) we loaded up our crew and headed down to Sugarland to stay at my inlaws house.I honestly don't know what I would have done if they didn't have power during that time. I was already about to lose my mind after only 1 day without power. The kids had a ton of fun down there. We had to return home yesterday (to a house with no power still) because the kids had to go back to school. This afternoon I went out to run an errand and when I came back home the power had come on. I started calling everyone that I know to tell them the exciting news. Today as I drove by my CVS there sign said, " I will never take electricity for granted again!" That is so true. For everyone that did not have to go through Ike be so grateful for the light that comes on whenever you flip that switch.I have always thought that it would be neat to life back in the pioneer days, like Little House on the Prairie. Not anymore!!! I don't know how those women survived. Woking in those long hot dresses with no AC! I was just sitting on my floor today and was about to die of a heat stroke.

Conversations around the table

I thought that I would share the conversation that the kids and I had the other day after school.

Abby: "Kyndall, who did you sit by at lunch?"
Kyndall: "Sophia and someone else."
Konner: " I have a Sophia in my class."
Kyndall: " Is she little?"
Konner: "No, but Madeline is." ( then in all seriousness with a smile on his face he proceeded)
Konner: " And I smile every morning because I Love Her!" "She is so little and so cute and I just love her!"

By this time Kyndall and I are about to fall out of our chairs we are laughing so hard. I have never heard that tone or those words come out of my son's mouth. I can't wait until Parent Orientation night so I can check this little Madeline out!

Imitate

The most fun that Chloe has during the day is whenever she is imitating Kyndall and Konner. I feel like she has picked up on things a lot sooner then the other two because she has two teachers. She keeps us rolling just from watching her try and do what they are doing. I caught her trying to imitate them the other night and got it on video for everyone.

"How to eat Cheerios" by Chloe Stevens

Chloe wanted a snack the other day so I gave her some Cheerios. She ( being the goofy girl that she is) proceeded to find a new way to eat cheerios and as you can see it is a lot more fun this way!!

Chloe's New Word

We were sitting around the dinner table the other night and Konner made the comment the something was "Awesome". Immediately following Chloe said "Awesome!" It was the cutest thing I have ever heard! Now she will walk around the house and just say "Awesome" or if we give her something she will say "Awesome". Here is a little clip of her saying her new word!!
